Meet Nicola, Doula of Belfast

Pregnancy and birth can open you in ways you never expected – tender, powerful, overwhelming, and deeply transforming all at once.
If you’re longing to feel safe, supported, and truly prepared during this sacred season, you’re in the right place.

I’m Nicola, a birth doula based in County Down, Belfast, here to walk alongside you through one of life’s most transforming experiences ~ pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, excited, uncertain, or all of the above, I’m here to hold space for it all. I support women emotionally, physically, and practically so they feel informed, confident, and truly prepared during this tender time of yielding and surrender.

"....So many thoughtful details throughout her time working with us. I'm so glad she was part of our home-birth experience."

Your birth matters

Supporting you, Wherever you are on your journey

You will remember this birth for the rest of your life, and I’m here to help you feel confident, informed and well supported in your choices – every step of the way.

As a doula, my heart desires to prevent birth trauma by preparing you for what to expect from your body and from the care you receive. I’ll gently guide you through your options, so you feel confident to speak up, make informed decisions and create a birth that feels right for YOU.

I bring love, compassion and  calmness into your birth space. My main focus is supporting you, but I also hold space for your partner and work alongside the medical team, creating a more connected, respectful atmosphere for everyone.

Every woman deserves to feel informed, trusted and supported so she can have an empowered birth. Whether you’re navigating your first pregnancy, or seeking a different experience after a previous birth, I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion and care.

Our bodies are designed to birth - given the right care, nurturing and support.

How I Found My Calling

My path into this work began, not from a textbook, but from life itself. Over time, I became deeply convinced of this simple but life-changing truth: Our bodies are created to carry and birth new life. It is capable of healing and thriving when supported with the right food, a peaceful, loving environment and emotional well-being. This belief continues to grow as I hold space for women navigating the raw, beautiful and complex experience of becoming a mother.

This is not just a profession, it’s a calling – one that continues to shape me every day.

I Walk the Talk

I don’t just show up at births, I show up in my community too. I volunteer at a parent and tots group, and serve as a breastfeeding peer supporter. These roles give me daily reminders of how valuable a listening ear, a kind word or a shared story can be.

I continue expanding my skillset as a doula so that I can show up for you with wisdom and compassion. Your story, your choices, and your intuition are central to everything I do.

When I'm not Supporting New Mums

My Home is My healing space.

Over the last few years, I’ve become deeply convinced that our bodies have an innate ability to heal itself. As a society we’ve lost that belief and conviction. I’m on a personal journey to live as toxin-free as possible. That means making my own household cleaners and skin care products, using natural ingredients and the power of essential oils. It’s not just about reducing chemicals, it’s about creating a home that truly supports wellness.

Creating Brings Me Joy

Knitting, crocheting, clay modelling, and free-style embroidery are my go-to ways to unwind in the evenings. There’s something beautifully soothing about making something with love, stitch by stitch.

Walks, Coffee & Heartfelt Chats

My spirits are lifted when I meet up with a friend for a walk, coffee in hand, sharing stories and trying to right the wrongs of our world, one conversation at a time.

Giving Back Fills me Up

Volunteering at the local parents and tots group, and supporting new mums as a breastfeeding peer supporter are some of the most rewarding parts of my week. Knowing that I bring comfort and value in those moments means the world to me.

During labour she was amazing, both for me and my birth partner. She helped us to stay calm and focused...and when interventions were suggested , she made sure we thought through what each one would mean. The Doula of Belfast helped me to feel empowered and I honestly can't recommend her enough.

" Nicola was the right choice for me and there's no one else (alongside my husband) I would have wanted during the beautiful birth of my second daughter."

Values & Mission

Values and Mission of Doula of Belfast. Hands offering a heart towards a setting sun

The heart of my work is a mission to nurture women – to support them not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually too. I value love, kindness and a deep trust in each woman’s God given intuition.

As your doula or childbirth educator:

  •  I will help ensure your birthing space feels safe, calm, and protected—free from fear—so that your birth can unfold as naturally and effectively as possible.
  •  You will feel prepared mentally and emotionally, even if your journey takes an unexpected path.
  •  Because birth is not only physical—it touches every part of who you are—I’ll be there to support you physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
  •  And above all, you will feel loved, cherished, and cared for.

I believe in presence over pressure, trust over control, and deep listening over assumptions. Birth is sacred, and you deserve to feel supported in the fullness of your femininity.

Every woman deserves to feel informed, trusted, and supported so she can have an empowered birth.

Whether you’re navigating your first pregnancy, or seeking a different experience after a previous birth, I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion and care.
